Residential alcohol and drug rehab in South Wales
Set within eight acres of natural landscape in South Wales, Brynawel offers a calm and supportive environment for drug and alcohol rehab and recovery.
We have a time proven programme which balances therapy for addiction with a range of health and holistic therapeutic activities. Our program is designed to address the causes of dependence while also preparing our residents for living a happy life after Brynawel, free from alcohol and drug use.

Therapy at Brynawel
Our warm, person-centred approach combines one-to-one and group therapy for addiction, creating a safe and supportive space where people can be heard and understood. We give people the tools and space to learn about themselves and our skilled therapist team helps our residents address the challenging patterns around alcohol and substance use in their lives.
Holistic therapies
Alongside our talking therapy programme, we offer a range of practical, creative and holistic therapeutic activities, designed to rebuild skills, confidence and enjoyment in everyday life. This offers a balance and a break from traditional talking therapy sessions, while helping our residents find calm and enjoyment from new and healthy hobbies and activities.

Understanding and managing emotions
Emotions are an important part of recovery. Our programme helps people understand what they are feeling and supports them to experience difficult emotions without becoming overwhelmed. Residents learn healthier ways to regulate distress, so alcohol or drugs no longer have to be their main way of coping. Over time, they develop greater emotional awareness, confidence and choice, helping them respond more safely and effectively to life’s challenges.
Relapse prevention and the recovery team
Alongside the Therapy Team, Brynawel’s Recovery Team provides practical day-to-day support and weekly check-ins for each resident. This is to make sure that everyone is settled and happily engaged in the programme, while also giving space to address any wellness or other needs which may have arisen during someone's stay.
The Recovery Team also coordinate a variety of weekly evening activities such as games night, and Relapse Prevention training, where staff and residents discuss things like the triggers that exist in normal life and how to manage them after graduation.
Life at Brynawel

Alcohol related brain damage (ARBD)
For some people prolonged alcohol drinking has led to brain damage. This can reduce capacity to live independently and function normally. Our 26 week ARBD programme makes a huge impact on people's lives giving them back significant brain function and life independence.
